Chinese Calligraphy
Calligraphy in China and Japan is traditionally said to be like meditation, quieting the heart and calming the mind by moving its Qi (Energy) in rhythm with the movement of the brush.
Learn the ancient art of calligraphy. By using brush and ink the beauty of words and ideas is expressed. First, we will study the special tools of calligraphy – the soft Chinese brush, rice paper, ink stick and ink stone. We will guide you through the basic movements of dots and strokes on rice paper. Then we will show you how to arrange these strokes into balanced, elegant characters.
This workshop is for anyone new to the art of Chinese Calligraphy and also for those who would like to continue their journey.
We‘ll start our calligraphy journey from a strong but simple base and then gradually move to more complicated things. From one stroke to more stokes, from simple characters to compound characters. You will also learn some basic Chinese history and philosophy in this lesson. Throughout the course, you will gain fundamental knowledge and master the technique of Chinese Calligraphy.

Chinese painting
This Chinese Brush Painting workshop is for anyone new to the art of Chinese Brush painting or for those who would like to continue their journey.
During the class Jin will demonstrate the use of Chinese ink and watercolour on rice paper and various drawing and painting techniquesof the object that the students are learning, followed by students own practise.
Students start off by drawing flowers, fruit, birds, trees, hills, waterfalls etc. and finish with the completion of a landscape painting. The course will also include the appreciation of masterpieces of Chinese painting.
